Student, 2018
Winston-Salem, NC
Karlo is a senior at UNC where he is expecting a bachelor’s degree in biology this May. As the recipient of the Vimy Global Team Award 2017, he travelled to the Philippines last summer with two undergraduate students where they conducted qualitative research on the migration of Filipino nurses and their essential role in foreign healthcare systems. They are currently in the process of editing and hope to release their project, “The Migration of Care”, this semester. Karlo will travel to the Philippines, Spain, and Mexico after graduation to conduct independent research on the persisting legacy of the Spanish colonization on the respective countries.
